Long Term Woodland Shelter

Bushcraft and Survival Skills magazine will be featuring the construction of our experimental long term shelter as a two part article over the next two issues.

The lengthy shelter build includes some interesting techniques based partly on archaeological evidence of ancient dwellings around the UK and also our own findings over the years.  Using only a minimal tool kit and natural building materials found in the surrounding woodlands we've made a weatherproof roof with chimney/smoke hole, wattle and daub walls and even a hinged plank door.  It's a house that would make your average hobbit go weak at the knees!
