Greg Power of Wilderness Survival Skills

Greg grew up in a small Somerset village and has been fascinated with the British countryside ever since he can remember.  Time in the British Army allowed him to see many different countries and this simply confirmed his belief that our country holds the best wild areas in the world with a huge catalogue of flora and fauna to delve into.

This interest was reinvigorated by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's series 'A Cook on the Wild Side'.  He was inspired by the programme to get out there and learn as much as he could for himself about the characteristics and lore of our indigenous plants and animals.

Greg turns native hard woods into bowls and this in turn has led him to have a new found respect for trees, their life cycles and the people who coppice for a living, Ben Law being a prime example.

Since 2002, Greg has been involved in adult education and the skills achieved in this role allowed him to complete a trainers course in bushcraft in 2005.  Greg understands that education is a two way process and it never fails to amaze him how much passion for learning students bring to courses.
